My cell phones battery had died. So I couldn’t take a picture. A Goose flew across the field landed in the middle. Its movement look and size Immediately caught my attention As some thing I don’t normally see. It was a cold day with snow on the ground. I stood at the edge of the field and quietly observed it for as long as I could looking for any identification details I might need when later referring to my Sibley‘s bird guide. It was solitary. I believe it was either a Rosses goose or a snow goose or a hybrid as that is possible. According to Sibley‘s guide this is a rare sighting. The goose that I saw was very white with darker beak darker legs and prominent black wing tips. It appears to me that snow goose geese have more color in their feathers both as juvenile and adult that color was not present on the bird that I saw. I definitely noticed it’s pronounced whiteness and shorter neck.

All winter crows, starlings and a few other type of birds were very interested in something under our south-facing lawn. They tore it up. My uncle, from Maine, said, “just wait you’ll find an infestation of larvae. Today I’ve unintentionally exposed 10-20 of these lil’guys. I hoping they are garden helpers, but am suspicious of their high numbers that they might be foes? Can anyone help me I.D. THEM?

They eggs are so beautiful. At first I thought they were mossy chitons...got my mollusks crossed. Because those are undeniably Nudibranchia eggs. duh.

They were so cool, so many eggs (est. 200) per sack! Was so happy to share this find with many other park visitors young and old that day :-)

Do vine maple leaves start a dark reddish tone? The shape looks like vine maple but not the color.

I know the aggregate sea anemone, what I’d like to ID is the “thing(s)” inside the anemone. Eggs of some kind? They were very “stiff to the (gentle) touch.
