Willie Duke's Bluff on the Eno. This one clump was away from the river, and a little up against the "cliff" that rises above a wide flood plain.
The clump was next to Dutchman britches, and beginning to spread. Because it was in heavy clay I was hesitant to dig, but because it was in a rich wildflower area, far from the road, and the only clump I saw, I doubted I would find again. So dug carefully with a pen knife and carried it out.
Note, Just because this was the only Ficaria Verna I discovered on my hike, doesn't mean there aren't others. It's a wide flood plain, and we know that there are still populations upstream from here, despite ongoing scouting and eradication efforts

West point on Eno, north side trail to Sennet Hole. North Bank of Eno, just west of where sewer line crosses to "island", past stone crossing of feeder stream. After 3rd Holly tree on left, walk to waters edge by a downed tree.
Only one large flowering clump but I didn't have tools to dig.
Went back and dug

Closer to Guess Rd than to Sennet Hole. Just off trail where very close to river. Lots of Mt Laurel and big rocks on opposite shore. If coming from Guess Rd, it's before first small stone bridge.
A small patch, less than 10 plants visible at this early time of year

Mostly widely spaced plants, not many but on sandy banks population could quickly multiply
Would be easy to miss some so should be scouted yearly
Sprayed the ones I found today

A small patch between trail and Eno. Too many to dig today: 50? Or more. Near a bench by a big beech. Mt Laurels on opposite bank
Mar 27- went back and sprayed what I could find, but leaf litter, dried river oats and microstegium stems makes difficult to find every FV seedling
Note, I covered Spring Beauty before I sprayed FV(!)
