Spent about 15 minutes observing and listening to this California Thrasher about 20-30 feet from me. It's close proximity allowed me to make a good quality audio recording of it using my iPhone.

I estimate this snake was at least six feet long. My lens was too long to capture its entire length in a photo before it disappeared into the grass.

Several of these fish were stranded along the Salinas River when the river rose during the recent storms, then receded, leaving these fish behind. I don’t know what kind of fish they are. Length was 5-6 inches. There were others which were of similar size or smaller.

A rattlesnake and its track. I'm not sure what kind of rattlesnake this is, but a friend suggeted a black-tailed rattlesnake. Note the black and white stripes just before the rattle. The tape measure is extended 12 inches next to the the track that the snake made crossing the road.

Sorry for cropping part of its head, but it was moving pretty fast. :-) I see the tracks of these mice everytime I visit this beach, but I have never actually seen one until today.

First time I have seen red fox tracks at this location, although the Don Edwards Wildlife Refuge species list includes them. Canine tracks with lots of fur and the bar/chevron at the posterior of the heel pad that is distinctive for red foxes.
