In Redwood Canyon, on the Pepperwood Preserve, I saw this fungus or growth of some kind on a redwood growing right on the side of a rocky creekbed. The slope the redwood was growing from was very steep, and the growth was on the downhill side, closer to the creek. It had a reddish look, with white, pimple-like dots on the bottom of it.
