Descrição

A dying, desiccated moth. I've never seen a moth in such a damaged and dried up manner. It was resting on my lettuce plant; it attempted to fly away, but with wings like that it got nowhere fast. I don't know if it is just at the end of it's lifecycle, or if it has a disease or mites. There is a a white substance, or parasitic mites?, on the back of it's carapace. I included both enlarged images and the original photos. It also appears to be missing a front right leg? I placed it back on the lettuce to rest for whatever time he/she has left.

Hard to tell, but my best guess is that its a Sphinx Moth.

Killdeer couple (?), Battle Ground, WA, USA.

I've seen this couple more than once at this same locale, so I'm guessing it's their nesting area. It's smack dab in the middle of a business park with small marsh-like wetlands close-by.

Bald Eagle, Meadow Glade, Washington, USA.

There's a walking path that parallels Hwy 503 between Battle Ground and Vancouver, WA. My wife and I were walking the path and crossing the bridge over Salmon Creek when we spotted this beautiful Bald Eagle perched on high in a dead tree overlooking Salmon Creek Pond. I've seen bald eagles before, but this was my first opportunity to photograph one. Such a beautiful bird!

Western Sword Fern?, Lewisville Regional Park, Lewisville, WA, USA.

I have no way of knowing whether this fern was cultivated or not, since it is located in a well designed park. That being said, it was near the base of a tree, not 12 feet from the river, and it was not in any type of manmade bed or structured area --so my best guess is that it was not planted or cultivated.

My apologies, I only took one photo of this plant.
