Most of my incredibly diverse salamander observations were when we lived on Dolan Hill, Indiana in the 1990's, when from February to May or June everything turned over in the garden, woods, or firepit had one or more species of plethodontids and various ambystomatids could be seen at or in the vernal pools stream, swamp, and creek around the hill, or occasionally turned up in gardening/weeding - almost none of these have usable photographs (cheap point&shoot film cameras back then).
