Journal for Lab 2

Pale Jewelweed (Impatiens Pallida) is part of the Balsam family under the order Ericales, which is descended from the Eudicots clade. Eudicots are evolved from the Magnoliopsida class of flowering plants in the kingdom Plantae, which is part of the domain Eukaryota. A unique adaptation of Pale Jewelweed is its exploding seedpods, which, upon being touched, burst open to widely disperse seeds. Therefore, the exploding pods further the Pale Jewelweed's ability to reproduce by spreading its seeds over a wider area. An adaptation common to all of my observations is their green color. The green color of each plant's leaves denotes the presence of chlorophyll, a pigment that absorbs sunlight in order for the plant to generate its own energy by performing photosynthesis.
