Description

Abundant throughout large stand of mature manuka and especially in light breaks like this one, suppressing native seedlings from germinating and in some cases from growing. Have already manually controlled them in one area but am considering leaving a control area, as I would like to know whether the kanuka succession and complete canopy will occur without intervention, or whether the watsonia and exotic iris will prevent this. Pampas plants throughout are small and possibly dying, and there are no other significant weed invasions in this little part of the manuka stand at present.
If time does not allow removal of all Watsonia, we will have a control plot anyway, which i will do my best to report on,but someone might already have experience of this situation ?
