Large grey waders with blue-grey legs wading in a roadside prairie pothole; 2nd photo is of one of these waders carrying an algae-covered fish or salamander that it has caught in this pothole; probably should submit the prey as a separate observation
This is a young oyster catcher, on the same spot as the adult pair, maybe its parents, from May 18, 2018.

Known rarity present for a couple of months usually on mud island of pond 23 in SDBayNWR. Observed today from dike after completing Pt. Blue Shorebird Survey of other ponds. In 4th photo, stint is chasing Western Sandpiper. In 5th, Least Sandpiper, Western Sandpiper, Little Stint, left to right.
These flowers were located under a tree and formed in clumps and little bushes. The leaves of this flower had sticky undersides, leading me to believe it was a sticky monkeyflower. I was told you can identify the monkeyflower through its leaves by Nicole Barden, an environmental educator.
