Description

This insect was about half an inch long, brown body and four very long legs that allow it to rest on the surface of water. It was continually moving on the water, so it was harder to get a good glimpse of it. I could see the slight hint of surface tension at the areas where its legs touched the water, as it “walked” on water. I later found out that they use vibrations in the water to detect tiny prey, and because they are at the surface of the water this is a prime spot to attack prey once the prey emerges from underwater.
