Summary 2

By far the largest of Wisconsin's canine species. Extremely variable in color, usually gray but can be all-white or all-black. Distinguished from Coyote by larger size, longer legs, and shorter ears. Also note that wolves often travel with the tail held out while Coyotes usually move with their tails pointed down.

Range 3

Northern and central parts of the state.

Habitat 3

Any area with expansive high-quality forest or prairie with minimal human disturbance.

Size 3

4-5', tail 14-20".
