Description
American Alligator Alligator mississippiensis at Smith Oaks Bird Sanctuary in High Island, TX. This alligator crept up on the bank of the island and has just caught a bird.

I stopped for a Spring Peeper, and then noticed a yellow object with a red reflection, a ways down the road. I assumed it was some trash, and then realized as I got closer that reflection was an eye shine.

Description
Oregon Aquatic Gartersnake, Dunsmuir, CA, USA. I estimate the snake to be between 12 to 15 inches long.
Our pool is closed for the winter, so no chlorine in the pool means all kinds of critters visit the pool in the off-season.
Yesterday, the 18th, I had a Garter Snake in the pool. It was amazing to see all the bugs that jumped on top of this poor snake in an effort to get out of the water. I fished the snake out of the pool with a net, snapped a few pics, and then watched it slither off into the nearby brush.
Note: Dunsmuir is just 75 miles south of the Oregon border, so we have a lot of wildlife that is indigenous to Oregon.
