Description

Do *not* mark this cultivated without at least having the courtesy to comment!

This tree is a sapling about 2' tall and ~1.5 years old. It appeared one day in an inconvenient spot and I have left it unmoved, untended, and unwatered specifically so that it is not cultivated. I haven't seen any ginkgo trees in the neighborhood at all and I've been looking for as long as this tree's been here, so I think a bird brought it in. Gingkos are not uncommon regionally, and are common in parts of the South Bay as a street tree. Many of the San Jose street trees are female trees that bear lots of fruit, and I know the kernel is edible even to humans.
